C.I. 2015 on the Day

Wonderful! Another great celebration! Fantastic entertainment! Beautiful weather and a beautiful event! These were just some of the comments from the many people who came to Carnevale Italiano 2015 to celebrate Anniversary Day and everything Italian.

We were delighted with the enhancements to our entertainment programme – Simone Nicole, a world-class soprano kept us spell-bound with her beautiful voice and complimented the ever-popular Tony Pantano and Fortunato Isgro. Also, the Coffs Harbour Italian choir added a wonderful dimension to the Mass and during the later activities. Val Wills was a much appreciated part of the day with her piano accordion music.everyone likes accordian - don't they
This year we did a lot of work to address the challenges that were highlighted from previous events. By all accounts it seems many of the changes worked well, while some were not so successful. Once again, your organising committee is facing a new set of challenges which they will be tackling in the coming year.

try some crostoliCarnevale Italiano is not only a celebratory event, it is also a major fundraiser for the New Italy Museum complex. All funds raised go towards the maintenance and improvement of the complex. Preliminary indications are that this year’s event has delivered a very welcome financial result.

We take this opportunity to publicly thank our many generous sponsors and supporters. In particular, Summerland Travel Lismore, Richmond Waste, Richmond Valley Council, The Northern Star, Ramada Hotel & Suites Ballina and Booyong Designs.

Volunteers-1Many thanks also go to the small army of volunteers who contributed their time and resources to Carnevale Italiano 2015. Some of these volunteers are direct descendants of the original New Italy settlers. There are also many volunteers who don’t have any familial connection to the New Italy settlers but who enthusiastically embrace the ideals for which the New Italy Museum complex was established. All this year’s volunteers are warmly invited to a “thank you” luncheon at the New Italy Museum complex from noon on Sunday 24 May.

Finally, while thanking all for coming to this year’s celebration, next year’s organising committee would like to invite everyone to next year’s Carnevale Italiano to be held on Sunday 10 April 2016.
