Our Museum Complex stands within acreage that was once part of the original New Italy Settlement. We are on the Pacific Highway in Northern NSW, between Byron Bay and Grafton. Don’t drive past. Open seven days and free entry, we have excellent coffee and plenty to see.
The mud brick Museum, Italian Pavilion, Osteria Meeting Room and Cafe were built during the 1980s and 1990s by dedicated volunteers who wished to preserve the memory of the pioneering Italian families.
There’s ample free parking and space for caravans, picnic areas and room to run your leashed dog. Don’t feed the kangaroos – they have plenty to eat in the surrounding bush but love to laze about watching the visitors.
Read about the history of the Italian pioneers’ terrible voyage to Australia and the community they established here, in the History section of the website.
